What is an Apprenticeship?

An Apprenticeship is – a sector recognised qualification that is designed to develop knowledge and skills qualifications and work

Apprenticeship Schemes – can vary in length, however the usual apprenticeship duration is a minimum of 12 months

Qualification and Competence – is achieved through on and off the job training

Most Apprenticeships Consist of – Competence and Knowledge qualifications, Functional skills, Personal learning and thinking skills as well as Employee rights and responsibilities

The Benefits

 Earn while you learn!

Whilst completing an Apprenticeship programme you will earn a wage alongside achieving a sector recognised qualification; so unlike University you can start earning and saving for your future as opposed to being saddled with debt.  The current Apprenticeship minimum wage is £3.50, although this may seem low, it is subsidised by the fact you are completing a qualification for free.

Training in skills that employers want!

Whilst studying an Apprenticeship you will gain first-hand experience in your chosen industry.  So not only will you achieve a nationally recognised qualification, you will also have relevant experience; helping you to successfully climb the career ladder.

Excellent progression opportunities!

An Apprenticeship is an excellent opportunity to study further, climb the ranks within the workplace – or both!  Either way you will be gaining relevant qualifications and experience to kick start a new or existing career.

Increased future earning potential/Better long-term salary prospects!

Apprentices enjoy marked salary increases when they complete their training and become a valuable asset to their employer over the course of the qualification and in the future.  Qualified Apprentices also have better long-term salary prospects (those with an Advanced Apprenticeship earn around £117,000 more than those without, over the course of their career)

Paid holiday and other benefits!

As an Apprentice (even though you are still in training) you are entitled to the same benefits as any other employee – where applicable.  For example, you will receive paid holiday, expenses and be opted into the company pension scheme as well as any other company benefits.

Here at Activ First we love Apprenticeships…But Don’t just take our word for it!

Doing my Level 3 Personal Training qualification with Activfirst was amazing. I’ve been working in the fitness industry for 7 years and I still felt as though I learned so much from the course. My tutor, Niki was so supportive and really helped me with her first-hand knowledge. I always looked forward to our meetings. The framework of the course was incredibly comprehensive and even though it was a challenge, I left feeling as though I was ready to take on clients straight away. I now run my own travelling Personal Training and online coaching business, and have already had happy clients showing great results with their goals. I would recommend this course to anyone wanting to get into the industry.“
