Assistant Sport Development Officer

Activfirst are seeking a talented, friendly and energetic individual to work with young people and adults, delivering a range of sport, and wellbeing sessions across Bridlington and surrounding area.

The individual in question will be responsible for the delivery on our new scheme Activbusiness; a project designed to produce a healthier and more productive workforce for business. It targets issues that may cause a loss of revenue to employers (e.g. mental health, obesity, etc) and impact an individual’s chance of promotion and self-development.  This network of support should result in reduced financial constraints for business as a result of people being unfit for work through mental health and obesity, and improved performance and wellbeing of employees.


Days of work: Predominantly Monday – Friday with some evening and weekend work

Location: Bridlington


Appointment Type: Fixed term for 3 years

Salary: £20,500 Pro Rata

Hours: 37.5 per week

Role Summary:

Candidates should have experience in working with young people and adults. They will be able to work well as part of a team, be self-motivated, stay calm under pressure and be a positive role model to participants. They will be responsible for all health and safety matters and keeping succinct records of involvement. The candidate should also meet the following criteria:

  • A full current driving licence is essential
  • Over 18 years of age
  • Have a level 2 coaching qualification or an equivalent qualification demonstrating transferable skills i.e. youth work, childcare, health related, etc.
  • Have an Emergency first aid qualification (undertaken in the last 3 years)
  • Have a Safeguarding qualification (undertaken in the last 3 years)
  • The post will be subject to DBS clearance and satisfactory references.
